How Screen Printing Works

Screen printing is highly recommended for bulk orders, unique products, prints requiring specialty inks, or for colors matching specific Pantone values. Listed below is a detailed description of a typical screen-printing process.

Artwork & Film Positives

The quality of the final output is directly dependent on the artwork provided from your side. A typical screen-printing process starts with the finalization of the artwork. It can either be a combination of pictures and text, or a simple sketch.

Screen Exposing

Each colored screen is exposed under Ultraviolet (UV) light in order to burn the design onto the emulsion. Once exposing is done, the film positives are to be removed, and the screen should be cleansed with water to wash away exposed emulsion.

Printing

After the screen has been prepared, they are fixed onto a print carousel and placed in such a way that each color and layer is printed in its desired position. Colored inks are administered onto the screen through an exposed mesh using a squeegee, one color at a time.

Curing

LED-UV heating or curing process is done to affix the printed ink permanently onto the silk garment. Compared to other available curing technologies, UV heating is a low temperature, high-speed, and solvent-less process.
